Tables piled high with succulents, jewelry, and sweet treats of any kind line the walkway to Commons at this year’s Waterfall Festival. The middle school club, the Water Warriors hosted the Waterfall Festival on November 8 in order to raise awareness of the global water crisis.  Sponsored by Middle School history teacher, Ms. Bizar, the Water Warriors raise money to build clean water wells in schools in Africa. This year, the Water Warriors plan to build three wells in Ugandan schools which teach mostly South Sudanese refugees.

 

Students from all grades gathered around the tables to buy treats and crafts.  Many items were offered at the Waterfall festival, anything from cupcake sandwiches to felt succulents.  “I wanted to engage club members to do something individually such as make crafts,” Ms. Bizar explained.

 

Many middle school students bought gifts from the festival and supported the Water Warriors.  Anna F. ’23, made a few purchases at the Waterfall Festival. “I wanted to help support the Water Warriors on their mission to build clean water wells in Africa.” When asked why she joined the club, Isabella H. ’23 remarked, “Water Warriors is supporting a great cause. Water is a big part of our everyday life.” This year, the Waterfall festival surpassed its goal and raised $3,300.
