After 20 years of service to Westridge’s community, Georgette Awad, the sixth grade math teacher, plans to retire at the end of the 2019 school year.

She has been teaching the sixth grade since coming to Westridge in 1999. Her main goal in teaching her students has been to motivate and stimulate them through her curriculum. “My hope was that every year, I was able to inspire young women to continue to be passionate to learn by creating projects that allowed for them to see math in the real world,”  she stated.

For her retirement, Mrs. Awad hopes to play more golf, become more involved in helping others through her church, and finish the book she and her husband had started to write when they began to date.

20 years ago, Mrs. Awad started her journey of teaching at Westridge, and the community is grateful for her wisdom and support. Although the community is sad to see her go, Westridge wishes her well in beginning the next chapter of her life.
