Laughing and screaming, proud members of the Westridge community trailed behind Westridge’s new CIF tennis champions. Spectators and fans waved pom-poms, cheering on their fellow classmates. On November 21, the Westridge Varsity Tennis team, riding on the back of the golf carts, was celebrated by an enthusiastic crowd for their triumphant end to a dominant season.

The team won the CIF-SS Division 4 Championships, the first tennis CIF Division 4 championships since 1981. In their tight game against Rowland, the Tigers solidified their season with a 7-11 match.

Athletic Director Melanie Horn was elated when she spoke about the tennis team and their achievements, using words and phrases like “ineffable” and “as good as it gets.”  In the exciting season saga, twins Ellie and Frances L. ’23 lost their first round but came back during their second round 6-4 and ended up winning their match 2-1. “Ellie and I realized that we had to pull off this win as it would be the only chance our get our team to 7-5 after the second round. If we weren't at 7-5, then it would be near impossible to win,” said Frances.
